New Process For Assessment of Defendants

A recent article in the Akron Beacon Journal highlighted Judge Jones' work towards improving assessments for defendants struggling with mental health or drug addictions.

“The court recognized this issue, which can be the difference between life and death for an individual struggling with addiction,” said Judge Amy Corrigall Jones, the administrative judge in Summit County Common Pleas Court. “It is also an issue of community safety.”

OSBF presents Community Service Award to Judge Amy Corrigall Jones

Judge Amy Corrigall Jones was recognized by the Ohio State Bar Foundation for outstanding community service.

"A judge can sentence a defendant to community service but in the case of Judge Amy Corrigall Jones, her own community service was recently recognized with an award by the Ohio State Bar Foundation.

Jones, who sits on the Summit County Common Pleas Court bench, received the foundation’s Community Service Award for Attorney’s 40 & Under for District 11 in March for her volunteer work with various sports and academic programs."

"30 For the Future" Award Winner

The Akron Legal News profiled several winners of Great Akron's "30 For the Future" award, including Judge Jones:

"I am humbled and very appreciative,” said Judge Jones. “My father always taught me to work hard and give back with no expectations.”

A native of Toronto, Ontario, Judge Jones first came to Akron in 1986, attending St. Vincent–St. Mary High School.

“Growing up, my dad was a professional football player and college football coach so we moved around a lot until he was hired as an assistant football coach at The University of Akron,” said Judge Jones.
